As some of you already know, my husband and I are 'training' for the WDW Half Marathon in January. Current status - getting a good base to actually start training. This means we've been running a few times a week, trying to get in some cross training (swimming, work out videos, yoga, etc..) on our off days, and trying to find a training program that we can actually follow to get us ready for the 13.1 miles between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
Well, just today, I found RunDisney, the newly designed website supporting all things running Disney. They're offering training programs from Jeff Galloway, who, in the running world, is kind of a big deal, though I've only seen marathon training programs as of now. There are different levels of programs, but the one we'd most likely use would be the goal - to finish upright. I mean, up to this point, my longest run ever was about 5 miles...
My long runs are sans running stroller on the weekends, and the last 2 weekends I ran 4 miles. My shorter runs, I'm pushing Noah in our amazing running stroller. And while I mean amazing in so many ways, it really is a pain to push a stroller. As if running isn't painful enough without added work! Pain aside, the running stroller helps me make time for runs on the weekends or occasional mornings I don't work without having to think about child care. So, for all you moms trying to find a workout option without missing time with your baby, this could be an option.
And, as of yesterday, we booked ourselves a Villa - a 3 bedroom/3 bath home with a private splash pool at the Windsor Hills Resort for our January trip to Orlando. I'll make sure to write about that soon, and repost my blog about resorts I wrote for Lisa over at Babes in Disneyland a month or so ago. One less thing to worry about! Now, time for a run!
Thanks for stopping by,
~Jenn
