Tables in Wonderland - the Verdict

Before our last trip, I started really thinking about buying into Tables in Wonderland.  $100 for Florida residents, which I am, as well as DVC members **this is a new perk for DVC members** and $75 for Annual Passholders, Tables in Wonderland hosts special dining events perfect for locals ore regulars, but simply offers a 20% discount for the majority of table service restaurants on property (including resorts and Downtown Disney) and even some counter service options at DtD and resorts!

Shortly before I left, I was told by my Disney friend Mary at Capturing Magical Memories that the break even is $400 in dining.  I figured that even though we were a family of 2 adults and 1 occasional eater, we would also have my parents for a few days and another family of friends joining us.  In the case of most meals, it simply pays for the tip (but they add 18% gratuity) but in the case of our character meal at Tusker House where our server crossed out the gratuity option (how nice, right?), we just saved 20%!

With plans of Le Cellier, Tusker House, Jiko, and more, I figured we should definitely try it.  Our first stop in Orlando was Downtown Disney and we headed straight to Guest Relations before finding lunch - just in case.

Oh - and for our evening resorts meals?  Free valet parking!  And free parking in the parks after 5 p.m. with dining reservations!

I figured that the discount was good for 12 months, so I figured it would only be a 1 trip discount.  What I found out - it expires at the end of the 13th month.  No matter when you buy it (the 1st of the month or 31st), it expires the last day of the 13th month.  What does that mean for us?  2 trips!  Since it expires at the end of February 2013, we'll be able to use it for our January 2013 Marathon Weekend trip!!  Without a doubt, we'd easily make our money up.

Luckily, with big crowds at table service restaurants and finding of several counter service locations that accepted the plan, we easily made up our $100 on this first trip.  Now, it's just straight savings!  Sounds good to me!

Anyone else a TiW member?  Have you ever experienced any of the special events?

  1. I am so happy to read this! My parents are eligible to get the Tables in Wonderland and with a group of 7 to 12, we know one trip will pay off, but knowing it is good for 13 months is definitely worth it for them! Thanks for the info!

  2. I got this last year, as an annual passholder, when we went to WDW with our family of four plus my parents and my mother-in-law. It was definitely worth the money for us, just on that trip alone. We haven't done any of the special events since it's hard for us to get down to Orlando often, but I've enjoyed having it and will probably get it again next year when we plan another WDW trip.

  3. We of course use our all the time. Remember it is also good at the bars and lounges (after the baby of course). This last trip I actually orderd a Sangria to go from Via Napoli to get the discount. Hee hee.
