Disney Legend Dick Nunis
Dick Nunis started his summer job at Disneyland in 1955, due to the recommendation of his classmate, Ron Miller. He was one of the first 600 employees at Disneyland to work at Disney University for training and orientation, where he trained Walt and his executives!
Over the years, he worked his way up and by 1971, was named executive vice president of Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
In 1980, he became president of the Outdoor Recreation Division, overseeing Walt Disney World, Epcot Center and, later, the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. Dick consulted on plans for Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland all while serving on the Walt Disney Productions Board of Directors.
Dick retired after a 44 year career as chairman of Walt Disney Attractions. He retired exactly 44 years to the day after he joined the company! He became a Disney Legend shortly after his retirement, in 1999
